Jeff Schmidt is 50! OPEN HOUSE 1pm - `til
Event Date: Sunday, 07/13/08

... and Jeff and Carol are having a BBQ to celebrate ... Saturday July 13th. Don't forget your photo of you and Jeff!

Jeff evidently doesn't care if you come ... just send an expensive gift.

Jeff & Carol Schmidt
229 Berkshire Drive
Douglasville, PA 19518

Please bring a photo of you and Jeff for his memory box. Feel free to email photos to siano@4x3.net for posting on the site. Hopefully he'll find the memory box before the big day ... he's so old ... he misplaced it.

The photo I posted is from 1984 I believe ... I'm looking for a little help on all the details. It wasn't just a game v. Washington in DC ... it was a pretty huge playoff game ... it may have been to get into the East Coast finals?

I'm in the back with my arm raised, Dave 'stinky' Horton was our flyhalf that day and in the center of the shot and Jeff Schmidt is on the right ready to jump on to the pile.

The story is we played Washington to a tie in regulation ... maybe Clark was still writing lineouts? Anyway the game was tied at the end of regulation and I believe tied again at the end of the 1st overtime. I recall that this pileup, after the game winning try, came on an extremely long movement (75 - 80 meters). The try was scored, I believe, by Shane Coady or at least that's how I'm calling it until I hear differently ... Great Try Shane!

The photo was taken by my brother John. I believe he played thru the first overtime only to be replaced by someone, though much less talented, still able to breath. In my brother's defense, as I recall, any one of us could have been replaced, as exhaustion had set in on both sides of the field and all potential substitutions had been needed and made.

I'm fairly certain my brother Jim's ass or leg or cleat is also showing in the shot. My favorite part of the photo is the faceless arm on hip of the certainly dejected Washington player in the upper left. That's what rivalries are all about!

Obviously Jeff made it through the whole contest. Happy birthday Jeff! You looked young 25 years ago and because you are standing in the shot, I know you were fit!

Please call or email Carol.
