Brendan Borek Pediatric Cancer Fund and Helen Diller Vacation Home for the Blind Whiskey Tasting
Simon Brooking, Master Ambassador for the Dalmore & Laphroaig, put on a wonderful show that was part college course lecture and part sermon on the virtues of scotch.
A formal whiskey tasting was conducted with fine glassware and the appropriate palette cleansers to truly appreciate the subtleties of each scotch. Simon went into great detail captivating his audience with the distilling process for the Dalmore & Laphroaig. Adorned with traditional Scottish kilt and dagger, Simon spoke to a group of 20-30 people with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop and the banners of each brand slowly waving in the foreground.
All proceeds from the tasting are being given to the Brendan Borek Pediatric Cancer Fund and Helen Diller Vacation Home for the Blind, two local charities.
Simon had been a presence throughout the day of the tournament. He manned a booth which had all sorts of information available and presented each winning bracket of legal drinking age with an aged bottle of the Dalmore & Laphroaig(no scotch for the high school bracket, though we would have been glad to give one to the coach if someone was of age).
