1992

The 1992 AGM was a great success. Close to sixty members were present and it was the first time in recent memory that all 22 elected positions were contested. Two resignations were accepted with great regret. Following a six year term Bill 'Ernie' Racich stepped down. During his tenure Ernie helped establish the Home Boys as an Eastern Power as well as the second place finish in the Nationals. Keith McLean also resigned citing business pursuits as the main reason. As clubhouse manager he had established a solid rapport with Guiness and Bass Ale. His congenial approach and soft smile convinced the big wigs in Guiness to sponsor our club. The membership formally thanked Ernie and Keith for their tireless efforts in helping establish the club as a National Power.

We're back! The newsletter headline. Following an exciting, interesting and successful of Denmark, Germany and Holland the club opened the fall season beating Pac 17-16. The Bs beat Doylestown 21-12. Week 2 brought Chesapeake to town coached by our own Clarence Culpepper. PW scored early and often and won 53-0. Week three we beat Blackthorn 42-6.

We also suffered the loss of Jerry Starobin felled by a massive heart attack in an Old Boys game against Chesapeake. His wife Debbie was pregnant at the time and wrote to the club after the birth of daughter Abigail. 'Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to all of Jerry's teammates who so generously contributed to my children's fund. I am opening up a college account for each of them. Everyone's concern and compassion means so much to me. Fondly, Debbie.'
