The spring of 1990 also appears as a big hole in the tapestry of rugby legend with no apparent written record. The summer of 1990 did see the club make it the Rugby-East Sevens Championship by winning the Bethlehem tournament in June. Unfortunately we lost to Old Blue and MOB in pool play, but did upset eventual champ NOVA. It was NOVA's only defeat in the tournament. Keith McLean, Marcus Maffei, Steve Rae, John Flamish and Stephen Siano were all invited to participate in the ERU sevens camp. Rob Farley toured Australia as an Eagle. He played in four of the six matches including the test match against Australia. Rugby News identified Rob as one of the best players on the pitch in the match against Queensland B and he scored the winning try in the closing minutes of their win against South Australia. Rob, Mike Siano and Butch Horwath were all selected for the Eagles tour to Japan. Stephen Siano played for the Eagles sevens in the Sicilian International Sevens Tournament. In September of 1990 we had the top side Shannon from Ireland come to us on tour. We surprised the visitors beating them 25 - 16. We again won the EPRU 1st division to only come up short again in the Mid- Atlantic's.
