Philly Whitemarsh showed up with some new faces an the pitch and was forced to play some "shorter & lighter" backrow forwards at second row. All I can say is, "Dyer, Jr., and Mutt watch your back.

First match 11:00 am v. New York Rugby Club. It started out as a sea-saw battle as we were all a little anxious and hadn’t played together in some time or not at all. Once we settled down, we dotted some security points to win the match.

Our second match was against, yup, you guessed it, our "Chuckless" friends from New York - Old Blue. Friends, not only did we beat this much larger team, we literally kicked their A__ES all over the field! As Captain, it was one of the most thrilling matches I have ever been a part of. Our backline was in their face all day and never let them get anything started while our forwards simply beat them to the ball and ran them into the ground.

"Snow White" would especially like to thank all the dwarves who helped make that victory poossible (inside joke). An Old Blue winger came up to me after the match and referencing our recent loss to them at Saranac simply said, "Well, I can see that paybacks are a bitch!"

Tired, hot, hungry and with limited reserves, we decided to press on (I should have been a writer) to the final against New York Athletic Club who earlier, beat a strong Washington side. The intensity was not nearly as high as it was against Old Blue but we put on quite a defensive display as we shut out (thanks to their winger stepping out of bounds) NYAC 17-0 to win the Monmouth Cup Premier Division Championship.

To the coaches and all the players and friends who participated and attended our two tournaments this summer, thank you. I am very much looking forward to this fall season for I strongly feel that every team we play against will have to be in top form to even be competitive with us. Let’s train hard and everyone be at practice.

Matt Winters Club Captain.
